.about

There was a time when eating out was reserved for special occasions and most people made their own clothes. I daydream about those times! Nowadays people are shocked when you can sew yourself a dress or make your own bread. We’ve come a long way and I’m not sure it’s all for the better.
What better way is there to know the eggs you’re eating are healthy, than to keep your own flock of hens? I love the backyard chicken movement. It just shows that I’m not the only one who wants to return to simpler (healthier) times.
Lets explore some cookbooks that my great grandmother and maybe even her mother would have pulled from the shelf!
I’m Danielle, a mother, a girlfriend, a daughter. My family is my most cherished possession. I have a degree in fashion design ( I can make my own clothes), but have no formal training in the kitchen. Everything I know about cooking and baking I learned from my mom (who learned from her mom, who learned from her mom, and so on…..), and from countless hours of research and experimentation.
My kitchen bucket list for this coming year includes:
-Pickling and canning.
-Homemade caramels.
-Perfecting my pie crust.
